Remember

On September 11, 2001 hijackers took over 4 planes with the intentions of crashing a plane into each of the twin towers, the Pentagon, and the white house. Three of these planes hit their mark killing nearly 3,000 Americans.

On this fateful day 11 years ago nearly 3000 Americans woke up, completed their morning routine and planned on having a normal day. Not one of them knew that they were going to give their lives for their country that day. At 0846 a plane containing 76 passengers and 11 crew members ripped through the north tower of the world trade center. Nearly 20 minutes later another plane containing 51 passengers tore through the south tower killing the passengers instantly.

Some people did escape from the towers, thanks to the many emergency responders that responded. At 0959 however, the south tower collapsed completely, killing everybody left inside to include several crews of fire fighters. Thirty minutes later the north tower also collapsed with the same results. From the time the planes crashed into the towers to the time they collapsed, the flames and smoke was so intense that nearly 200 people jumped or fell to their death from the two towers.

At 0957 hijackers flew 53 passengers into the pentagon and at 1003 the 4th plane went down in a field in Shanksville, PA. This 4th plane was intended for the white house, it did not make it due to the passengers on board. That day, those passengers made a decision to fight back no matter what the consequence. They put their lives on the line and died in action.

Since then we have sent many of our loved ones overseas and many have not returned. While those 3000 that died on September 11 didn't sign up to fight for their country, they were soldiers in a true sense. So as you go throughout your day, and when you wake up tomorrow, ask yourself this....is today my day?
